GTA 5 Actor Defends GTA 6 From Complaints of Both Games Looking A bit Similar

While the recent GTA 6 gameplay reveal from Netflix has everyone praising the lifelike visuals and the spectacularly detailed and dense world of the upcoming title, there has also been some complaints about the general gameplay experience being a bit too similar to it’s predecessor, GTA 5. And Ned Luke, the actor behind GTA 5’s Michael De Santa, has dismissed those recently while collaborating with The Partychat and House of Highlights Youtube channel. He stated the following when asked whether there are any similarities between GTA 6 and 5, based on the recent gameplay showcase:

“This looks nothing like Grand Theft Auto 5,” he said. “I think they’re out of their minds.”

“I’ll tell you one thing: I never looked that good,” he added, while pointing to an image of Jason, one of the protagonists of GTA 6, on his screen.”

He also describes the realistic character animations in the game’s movement system as being a massive step up from GTA 5: “Watch the way the people move,” he said. “The walks are actual human walks. We still had a little bit of that mechanical thing going with our walks and the way we’d stand. For me, I felt like my legs were never fully straight. They always had this little bend in them.”

“The technology has grown by leaps and bounds, you know? What would make you think it’s going to be better than those games? It’s no diss to those games. It’s like between [GTA 5] and GTA 4. Our graphics blew GTA 4 away. They weren’t even close.”

While GTA 6 is obviously a generational leap in terms of visuals and realism and it’s graphical prowess far surpass anything else anyone has ever seen in gaming, there’s also the possibility that the core gameplay elements may haven’t seen as much innovation or advancements from the earlier entries in the series. And that’s perhaps where some of these complaints have come from, about the gameplay loop being quite similar to GTA 5.

GTA 6 is currently slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
