This year’s Gamescom which is one of the biggest events in gaming, will be taking place on the same day that’s also scheduled for the upcoming GTA 6 Extended reveal on Netflix but according to the brand director of the yearly event, they aren’t really worried about any form of competition. In a new interview with GamesRadar+, two Gamescom directors have opened up on the possibility of the upcoming Netflix showcase focused on GTA 6 stealing all attention from their annual event for a significant amount of time, which is highly likely.
“At events like Gamescom, not only can you experience one game, but thousands of games, or at least hundreds. And this is the important difference. Of course, GTA will take some visibility and awareness from the digital Gamescom. But I believe that quickly, people will come back to Gamescom once they have seen the GTA content, because there are so many things, so many world premieres, so much new stuff to see, to experience. Hundreds of studios and companies,” said Stefan Heikhaus, brand director.
He also pointed out that “there are not many gamers who have only focused on one single game. Most of them are interested in a lot of different games.”
However, he has also acknowledged the undeniably colossal impact that GTA 6 is going to have with players this year: “games like GTA or other big releases over the last couple of years […] are extremely important. For the game industry, they are the North Stars.”
According to Xbox Wire, the titles that will take the center stage in Gamescom 2026 are this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Metro 2039, Fable and more. You can watch Livestreams of the event on both Youtube and Twitch at 4 PM CEST on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27 with lots of upcoming videogame trailers, developer interviews, gameplay videos and more.
The extended look at Rockstar’s upcoming GTA 6 is coming to Netflix on August 27 and will be made available for everyone to see on Youtube later that day, so if you have a subscription to Netflix, you’ll be able to get a first look at some of the features of the most anticipated videogame of all time when it premiers on the platform at 3 PM ET on August 27, and will be available on Rockstar’s own Youtube channel at 9 PM ET on the same day.
GTA 6 is currently slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
