Heatwarped is pretty much a mishmash between Tokyo Xtreme Racer, and Need for Speed Underground, at least from what I can see in the trailer. This game looks like it will be very sick for those who are nostalgic for meaningful and manly race battles in complex courses. Apparently the city will be chock full of secrets and things to discover, similar to how it was with old games in the PS2 era. I yearn for times like that, and when an indie game decides it can bring those moments back, it truly warms my heart because it gives me hope for gaming.
Heatwarped is coming soon
There is is a demo you can check out on Steam, and the game seems to run very well on low requirement systems because it even comes with an authentic mode working on with old specs. This is great considering that we are in a gaming crisis right now, with is tied to a long running hardware crisis caused by things nobody needs or asked for. In times when the triple A industry is failing to provide, indie teams are the only ones we can turn towards to for help and quality, even if a few of them are taking the slop route.
Heatwarped is a game I’m very interested in, and if the developer somehow gets to read this, I would love to be able to talk more about it with them and even get to review the game. Racing games like this are rare to find, because most of the genre is focused on the professional side rather than the downright illegal vibes of street racing and the clandestine circles that surround the hobby. We need thrills and we need something that feels dangerous, and I feel that Heatwarped will be giving us that.
