During a recent earnings report for the company, it was officially revealed that a “second installment” for Hogwarts Legacy is in active development, however, no other details have been provided as to it’s possible release window or anything else. Although, according to Warner Bros, titles like a sequel to 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy will “meaningfully contribute” to the company’s overall revenue in the future.
And in the same vein, they also highlighted the huge success of this year’s LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight. As addressed to it’s shareholders, the importance of games as a key instrument for the overall growth of the company was also detailed in the report:
“Games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals. During the second quarter, we released LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – the highest rated LEGO game ever – and Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, our second mobile game from the Game of Thrones universe. These releases marked the first launches under our refocused strategy centered around four key $1 billion+ franchises with disciplined investment behind fewer, higher conviction titles. We expect Games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy.”
Although, when looking at the overwhelming success of Hogwarts Legacy which has sold upwards of 40 million copies so far, a sequel is pretty much anyone’s guess at this point. Also, there was a job listing from last year that indicated the possibility of a sequel with various multiplayer modes as well.
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG that took players in the Harry Potter Universe where they can create their own Hogwarts student, get into one of the houses, learn and master different spells and other magic abilities and take part in an exciting and memorable quest that also paid homages to many aspects of the Harry Potter lore.
