WATERPUNK just got an amazing release on PC and its a very neat game of the roguelite variety, I know that people are getting fatigued with those, but this one is different. It is an action game happening in a water world, day and night cycles influence how things work and this is a very important feature. So far the release was quite recent, but people seem to like it, it really looks like what Enter the Gungeon could have been if it had different graphics. There is a future for games like this, and I believe its a matter of nailing the execution.
WATERPUNK is out
There’s no many reviews around this release, as it might have become more obscure due to the fact many games released today. There is a ton of new releases like Culdcept The First among many others, and even if it does not hit the niche this game hits, it can influence visibility. Indie developers don’t tend to have a marketing team behind like big companies do, so the best they can do is rely on a random youtuber finding their game, or a journalist writing about it like its happening now. I really want to see this project succeed in some capacity.
WATERPUNK has some interesting mechanics that shouldn’t be ignored, it might looke like Enter The Gungeon but gameplay wise its much more aggressive and quicker paced. There is a ton of builds you can go for, and by focusing the attributes on day and night cycles things can get pretty varied each run. The idea of a good roguelite is trying to make each new gameplay feel different compared to the last one, hopefully WATERPUNK managed to pull this off, eventually we will know based on what people will say about it in reviews.
