Heart of Mycelium just got revealed on PC and the cool part is that this one seems to have been made by a single person too. Indie developers who decide to tackle projects alone are the strongest people in the industry, legends like Toby Fox are an example on why we should persevere while making the things we like. There’s plenty of examples across the world, of solo developed indie games that reached massive success, such as Cave Story, effort is key and execution what matters the most. I feel that just by the looks, Heart of Mycelium has already nailed these things.
Heart of Mycelium gets revealed
There is still a ton of work to be done, as the game does not even have an official release date yet, but I feel like with how many things the dev has shown already we might get it next year. There is a ton of love put into the game, at the very least when we take a look at the graphics it becomes easily apparent that the biggest skill of Melvin is doing some amazing sprites. I wonder how much time it took to do all of that, but with how beautiful it looks it is clear that he had fun.
For the old heads in the indie space, you might already notice the clear inspiration taken from Hollow Knight in this one, however there seems to be a ton of differences in how it plays out. Being a bit derivative is good, and it is clear that Heart of Mycelium does it the right amount without feeling like its ripping off anyone. I really wanna see this one succeed, so if you are curious about it you should be wishlisting it on Steam to send a clear message to the developer, we want your game.
