Gearbox Announces Borderlands 4 DLC Story Pack 2 Featuring FL4K

Gearbox Software has officially revealed Borderlands 4‘s second story expansion, titled FL4K and the Last Resort, set to launch on September 10. The upcoming release brings back the Beastmaster from Borderlands 3, who takes center stage in a campaign focused on tracking down his missing Skag companion, Mr. Chew, across the planet Kairos. Joining the central narrative alongside FL4K is Loveless the Hacker, who arrives as the title’s sixth and final playable Vault Hunter.

Loveless introduces a distinct playstyle as an ex-Anshin hacker turned cyborg assassin. Her core mechanics leverage a digital virus residing in her mind, enabling her to digistruct a physical clone of herself onto the battlefield in a manner reminiscent of Zane’s Digi-Clone skill from Borderlands 3. Beyond the new Vault Hunter, the expansion incorporates a fresh map region, a major boss fight, and an expanded repertoire of Legendary and Pearlescent weapons designed for high-level character builds.

This announcement arrives as Gearbox addresses ongoing player feedback regarding the game’s post-launch content strategy. While the initial story pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, received positive reception for its narrative beats and the addition of the playable character C4SH, players raised widespread criticism over its premium price point in relation to its brief runtime. Gearbox has not detailed whether FL4K and the Last Resort will offer a longer completion time, but the return of a key legacy character signals a substantial campaign push.

To bridge the gap leading up to September, several smaller content updates are scheduled for the coming weeks. The first episode of the Borderlands Dead ECHO audio drama is currently streaming across major podcast platforms, with weekly episodes leading into late summer. Furthermore, Bounty Pack 4 releases on July 30, delivering standalone missions, additional boss targets, vehicle and ECHO drone cosmetic customization, and fresh gear pools.
