Programmers frequently analyzed original data files to dissect underlying math and gameplay logic, but the actual technical framework—spanning fluid parkour mechanics, character AI, and naval physics—had to be completely rewritten to leverage contemporary hardware pipelines, physically based rendering, and ray-tracing capabilities.
Starting with a blank slate ultimately provided developers with the freedom to overhaul mechanical systems that had aged poorly over the last decade. Combat encounters were completely re-engineered around dynamic parries and contextual takedown animations, while stealth mechanics were refined to support smoother escape routes.
