All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced a new collaboration with The Pokémon Company to launch three themed aircraft, introducing fans to an unexpected early look at the upcoming Generation 10 Fire-type starter, Pombon. The upcoming promotional campaign, set to roll out in July 2026, celebrates both the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise and the 40th anniversary of ANA’s international flight services. This marketing push bridges the current generation of pocket monsters with the highly anticipated launch of Pokémon Winds and Waves, which is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
The partnership introduces three distinct Boeing aircraft designated as Pokémon Jet Red, Green, and Blue, each decorated with starters spanning from Generation 1 to Generation 10 alongside Pikachu. The Pokémon Jet Red, a Boeing 787-8, focuses entirely on Fire-type Pokémon and provides the newly unveiled artwork of Pombon. The updated illustration offers a clearer view of the puppy Pokémon showcasing both paws, a layout that highlights a design detail where Pombon’s paw pads mimic a traditional Japanese kanji character.
Flight availability for these custom aircraft will vary by region and element type. The Fire-themed Jet Red and the Water-themed Jet Blue (a Boeing 737-800) are scheduled exclusively for domestic routes within Japan starting late July 2026. Conversely, international travelers will need to wait for the Grass-themed Pokémon Jet Green, which is designated for global routes but currently lacks a firm launch date alongside its Water-type counterpart. Beyond the external livery, passengers on these flights will experience themed interior accommodations, including custom headrest covers, napkins, and limited-edition paper cups.
This collaboration marks a return to a long-standing tradition for ANA, which has regularly operated custom Pokémon aircraft since 1998. While the promotional artwork gives players a rare official glimpse at Pombon outside of the initial February reveal trailer, regional restrictions mean a significant portion of the global player base will only interact with the campaign online. For most fans, the next major milestone remains the official gameplay reveal for Pokémon Winds and Waves, where the community hopes to see if Pombon breaks the recent trend of Fire-type starters by remaining quadrupedal throughout its evolution line.
