Konami has released a surprise cosmetic update for Silent Hill f, bringing a formal crossover with Koei Tecmo’s iconic Fatal Frame franchise to players across all platforms. The free downloadable content allows players to dress protagonist Hinako Shimizu in the signature outfit of Mio Amakura, the central character from Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
The collaboration follows an earlier update this year where Koei Tecmo introduced Silent Hill f costumes into the Fatal Frame 2 remake, allowing Mio and her twin sister Mayu to wear Hinako’s school uniform and fox mask. This latest release completes the reciprocal partnership between the two publishers, bridging two of the most celebrated names in Japanese psychological survival horror.
To equip the new outfit, players must update their game to Patch 1.20 or later, access a Hokora within the game, and select the “Change Costume” option from the menu. While the DLC is purely cosmetic and adds no new narrative content or gameplay mechanics, it serves as a nostalgic nod to long-term survival horror fans who have historically compared both franchises for their slower pacing, atmospheric dread, and distinct approaches to psychological storytelling.
The update arrives alongside a major promotional push for Neobards Entertainment’s title, which originally debuted on September 25, 2025. Silent Hill f is currently discounted by 50% during the ongoing Steam Summer Sale, dropping its price point to $34.99 until the event concludes on July 9. A specialized digital bundle featuring both Silent Hill f and the Fatal Frame 2 Remake has also been made available for newcomers looking to experience both titles.
