CD Projekt Red is actively recruiting for its next major intellectual property, currently codenamed Project Hadar. A recent job advertisement posted on the Polish studio’s official website reveals that the company is seeking an Engineering Director to oversee core gameplay systems for the upcoming title. This new role will be based full-time at the developer’s main office in Warsaw, signaling that foundational work on the unannounced universe is moving forward.
According to the vacancy details, the successful candidate will work alongside the development team to build an immersive open-world experience designed to deliver a lasting emotional impact on players. While specific gameplay mechanics remain sparse, previous hiring notices from the studio indicated a strong emphasis on melee combat. A job listing for a Senior Gameplay Designer published last year specified that applicants should have extensive experience crafting combat systems for action-role-playing games that prioritize close-quarters engagement.
First announced in late 2022 as a third core pillar for the company, Project Hadar represents CD Projekt Red’s first entirely original IP, created completely in-house rather than being adapted from existing literature or tabletop games. The project is still in its infancy and currently holds the smallest internal development team at the studio. The vast majority of the company’s production resources remain focused on the next installment of The Witcher franchise and the upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
The news arrives during a busy period for the Warsaw-based developer. Alongside ongoing pre-production on its next-generation sequels, the studio recently announced “Songs of the Past,” a brand-new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and rolled out a visual upgrade package for Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation 5 Pro. Management has previously reiterated its commitment to traditional, single-player narrative experiences, reassuring fans that these core values will extend to Project Hadar whenever it is ready for a full public unveiling.
