Digital Bros Acquires Wuchang: Fallen Feathers IP in $4.7 Million Deal

Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, has officially acquired the full intellectual property rights to the Soulslike action-RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers for approximately $4.7 million USD (32 million RMB). The move effectively transitions the property from its original developer, Leenzee, to the Italian publisher, ensuring that Digital Bros retains all future value generated by the title while eliminating any remaining royalty obligations to the creators.

The acquisition comes at a period of significant transition for the title, following the reported dissolution of the development team at Leenzee earlier this April. Internal friction appears to have plagued the studio prior to this buyout, beginning with the dismissal of studio director Xia Siyuan in February. Reports suggest that the studio’s inability to manage key development duties and a failure to meet outsourcing requirements ultimately led to the team being disbanded shortly after the game’s successful launch window.

Despite the internal turmoil at Leenzee, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers proved to be a commercial success, surpassing 1 million copies sold by the end of March 2026. The game generated over $35 million in net revenue, bolstered by a strong player base that peaked at over 86,000 concurrent users on Steam. Critics and players alike praised the game’s dark fantasy depiction of the Ming Dynasty and its integration of Chinese mythology, which helped it stand out in an increasingly crowded Soulslike market.

By bringing the IP entirely under the Digital Bros umbrella, the company is signaling a long-term commitment to the franchise. While the publisher noted that this investment will not have a significant impact on the current fiscal year’s outlook, the mention of “future development” suggests that a sequel or significant expansions are likely on the horizon. For fans of Bai Wuchang’s journey through the land of Shu, the deal provides a sense of security that the franchise will continue even as its original development studio fades away.
