Ubisoft Confirms April Reveal for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the long-rumored return of Edward Kenway is imminent, announcing a worldwide reveal showcase for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced scheduled for April 23. The announcement comes after months of speculation and internal leaks, positioning the remake as a cornerstone of the publisher’s 2026 release calendar. Fans can tune into the official YouTube channel at 9am PT / 12pm ET to see the first substantial footage of the project.

We know you know, but how about we tell you some more now? Tune in for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's Worldwide Reveal Showcase on April 23rd at 4PM UTC – 6PM CEST – 9AM PDT. https://t.co/Xi26YcN2AI pic.twitter.com/L4ogAy9DUZ

The initial teaser trailer released alongside the announcement leans into the project’s “Resynced” subtitle, utilizing atmospheric shots to bridge the gap between the 2013 original and modern hardware standards. While the footage stops short of showing a full look at the protagonist Edward Kenway, the tone suggests a faithful but technically ambitious reconstruction of the Caribbean setting. This reveal is expected to address how Ubisoft plans to modernize the naval combat and seamless exploration that originally defined the title.

Public pressure on this particular project is notably high, as Black Flag remains one of the most critically acclaimed entries in the entire franchise. The community response to the reveal announcement has been a mix of excitement and caution, with long-time players emphasizing the need for the remake to preserve the soul of the original’s pirate fantasy while fixing the aging mission structures of the early 2010s. Ubisoft appears to be aware of this sentiment, even using the reveal teaser to acknowledge the “leaks and rumors” that have surrounded the game’s development for over a year.

The timing of this reveal suggests that Black Flag Resynced will serve as a high-profile bridge for the series while Assassin’s Creed Hexe continues its development. With the showcase just days away, the focus now shifts to whether this remake will be a visual-only “remaster” or a ground-up reimagining of the mechanics. Given the “Resynced” branding, it is likely that Ubisoft is aiming for a middle ground that leverages the latest Anvil engine technology to bring the West Indies to life for a new generation of hardware.
