This is the era of Linux gaming, a massive upgrade to the compatibility layer called WINE allows you to run software at the Kernel level, which sounds crazy and insecure at first but as long as you have isolated things there’s nothing to worry. This definitely takes aim at multiplayer games, with their anti-cheat software and other measures, and while they still didn’t get there yet it feels like it might be happening in the next update. Some Anti-Cheat software already works under Linux, and this new WINE update genuinely brings a ton of speed to gaming.
Linux gets better
It was already the better operating system anyways, but this boost in speed and capabilities allows for some more squeeze room for games that are tricky to run under this umbrella of OSes. People might think there’s no reason to change to Linux yet but considering this huge, and I mean massive bump in performance there’s really no reason to stay on Windows anymore. Windows is getting more bloated, with Copilot being pretty much everywhere spying everything you do and stealing from your computer without you noticing, meanwhile Linux is overall safer and respects the user.
Your PC remains yours if you use any of the distributions below this wide umbrella of flavors, so it is up to you to make your computer life better than it already is by taking the best decision possible. Change to Linux now, something like Artix will do since its based in Arch which is genuinely the best distribution for gaming and staying on the bleeding edge of features. A ton of people already did the switch and it was very painless for them, its no different than installing some Windows version, you can even ask a techie friend to help you. Don’t be surprised if your old rig suddenly revives.
