Nintendo Denies Mario Kart World AI Claims

In a recent twist of events, Nintendo formally denied that the creators of Mario Kart World used generative AI to create the upcoming racing game for the Nintendo Switch 2. This follows growing hype surrounding the release of the new console and is meant to clear claims by fans for the graphical capabilities of the game.

The furore started when there was an official revelation of the game in a Switch 2 Direct event in April. Although a reveal trailer garnered a lot of hype initially, a later Nintendo Treehouse live stream raised a furore among fans. Prolific users noticed what seemed to be AI-generated images of some background posters in a track. The abnormalities were a bizarre-proportioned vehicle and zigzag ramps on a building that did not stand up to physical laws.

In reaction to being asked a question by Eurogamer, a representative for Nintendo released a brief statement denying the allegations. The firm reiterated its statement that the accusations were baseless and that developers did not use generative AI in designing the game.

In spite of this denial, Mario Kart World has also faced criticism from the gaming community. Some of the fans have been angered at the $80 price tag of the game, which is higher than most Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo has justified this price on the basis of the open-world idea and extensive graphical overhauls in relation to the previous versions. Nevertheless, for price-conscious buyers, a Switch 2 bundle with the game can be purchased at a $30 discount.

Throwing in the mix, players will not be capable of turning off course hazards, although players will be able to view the appearance of usable items on courses.

Mario Kart World will be a bundled launch title for Nintendo Switch 2.
