Marathon marketing seems to have vanished into the shadow realm, if this is true then it can spell disaster for the whole game. Tons of controversy have been piling up, from art theft to general dissatisfaction with the title, the mask of Bungie has fallen from their face to reveal a son of EA Games. Their unparalleled greed and disdain towards gamers is obvious, yet people who aren’t in the loop will fall for their schemes. The truth is that Bungie does not deserve any sort of compassion, they have stolen so much already, and the entire project should be put to sleep since nobody wants it. We at Infinite Start will cover this disaster.
Rumors claims that no company wishes to deal with the title, everyone seems tired of constantly failed live service titles. The new Marathon is heading out to be the next Concord, some are even saying that this is in fact Concord 2. Sony seems to be keen in making the worst financial decisions ever lately, and we can all agree that its fault of the people who are currently running, which isn’t Japan at all.
This wouldn’t have happened if Japan still had control of the company, but after being sold to other peers, Sony has been on free fall mode for too long. It seems that in these years, we might see the giant suffer a great setback, which would put an example on what happens to greedy companies who hate their customers.
We can hope that the Marathon IP can actually go to the hands of a group that respects it. In fact, Aleph One is an excellent candidate, since they have been so keen in keeping the original Marathon legacy playable even today. Aleph One deserves to own the Marathon IP as a whole, that way we can receive more quality games in the series.
