Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Window Potentially Limited by New Discoveries

Its long-awaited sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, can come out as late as June 6, 2025, based on hints found by its passionate fan base. Revelation to the gaming community back in February of 2019, now six years later to craft such an advanced Metroidvania has built a very real hype among gamers willing to experience its new world again.

One key to the puzzle slipped a few weeks ago from the Nintendo Japan website. That Hollow Knight: Silksong was included in the list of games set to release after June 6 specifically for the brand-new Switch 2 console indicates possible timing with the release window of new hardware. That sort of news indicates Team Cherry’s masterpiece may not precede the new console and won’t be an immediate launch title.

Adding to the speculative frenzy, a Reddit post highlighted the unveiling of a soon-to-open Hollow Knight: Silksong museum exhibit. Due to open on September 18 at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), the exhibit will treat fans to a playable build of the mysterious game as well as exhibits revealing its artwork composition and development process. This development has caused some to theorize that the game’s true release is more likely to come before the opening of the exhibit, potentially giving it a more limited window for release.

The fan base of Silksong, a spin-off of the widely popular 2017 original, has been incredibly patient during this long development period. However, it is wise that fans refrain from getting their hopes high until Team Cherry themselves say something official because game development by its very nature tends to introduce unexpected delays in schedules. While the notion of a release prior to the opening of the museum exhibit in mid-September does carry a definite ring of logic, the possibility still remains that the exhibit itself could be timed strategically to coincide with or even generate buzz for a somewhat postponed launch.

Although uncertainty remains, the atmosphere of Hollow Knight: Silksong news has provided more encouraging signs lately than was the case with the comparative silence of earlier years. The future Xbox Games Showcase on June 8 is also another possible highlight to look out for, although no official Silksong appearance has been officially announced for the event. It is also best to remember that the game did make an appearance at the 2022 showcase, and that is still keeping hope alive for a new update.

While the faithful fan base awaits, these new discovered clues provide us with an electrifying peek at the probable release timing of Hollow Knight: Silksong in order to maintain the people involved and expecting the eventual release of this massively anticipated sequel.
