Arc System Works Alledgedly Developing Switch 2 Exclusive Game

There are rumors within the industry that the much-revered game developer Arc System Works, known for producing extremely visually impressive and critically praised fighting games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive, is deeply invested in the development of a new, exclusive game for Nintendo’s future console, the Switch 2.

As reported by MyNintendoNews This still officially unannounced project, which is codenamed “Watari” internally at this point, reportedly is aiming to arrive in the marketplace in November. A note of technological intrigue that comes with these rumors is speculation that the game is being designed with the newer features of Unreal Engine 5.4. This means very high likelihood of extremely high amounts of visual fidelity and general performance overall, pushing what can be achieved on new Nintendo hardware to new levels.

The possible pickup of a Switch 2 exclusive from a studio as talented as Arc System Works would be a massive coup for the console’s already formidable list of third-party support. The Switch 2 is already generating buzz, with solid rumors suggesting other industry heavyweights such as FromSoftware, Square-Enix, and Capcom are working just as diligently on titles for the platform. The addition of Arc System Works, a studio perhaps most famous for designing complex gameplay systems and unique anime-style visuals, would certainly be a significant move toward making the new console more attractive and broadening its software library.

While these are all just wild speculations, they have already generated a tremendous amount of hype and chatter among hardcore gamers and industry insiders alike. There is a very much present hype surrounding what sort of new gaming experience Arc System Works can create specifically for the Switch 2, considering that they have already established themselves as a best-class and immersive game developer on every platform. That they are using Unreal Engine 5.4 further creates expectation that the game must be visually stunning as one should expect from the new Nintendo console.
