Call of Duty: Warzone Players Break Area 99 Easter Egg

Fans of Warzone have finally broke the puzzle behind the Area 99 easter egg, and it has never been cracked until now after sitting unsolved for more than four months. Ahead of the drop of Season 3 on April 3 when Area 99 will be culled from the game, the community of serious players has figured out the tricks hidden inside it.

Publisher Activision recently made mysterious references to the yet-to-be-named easter egg on the game’s Resurgence map, prompting a fresh burst of activity from the fanbase. Soon afterwards, Twitch streamer Dawg130 and his team took up the gauntlet, carefully putting together the pieces in a bid to crack the puzzle.

The answer, it appears, is a process with several steps. Players need to first find and blow the heads off of all dressed mannequins in the Mannequin Assembly Point of Interest (POI). Then, they need to acquire two keycards, which can be looted from dead bodies in the Reactor POI, which involves teamwork between two players. Lastly, when the keycards have been obtained, two individuals will need to visit a terminal within the Bunker POI to initiate a set of nukes along the map’s boundaries. These nukes do not end the game but create an aesthetically dramatic effect.

The announcement arrives at the right moment for Warzone players, as Season 3 is going to be a huge content update. The crown jewel of the season is the return of the original Verdansk map, remade from the ground up by Beenox Studios. Verdansk will host 150-player lobbies and boasts graphical enhancements and small modifications to open areas, offering increased cover for players.

Aside from the returning Verdansk, Season 3 is also bringing back classic Modern Warfare guns that will be making their return, such as the HDR Sniper Rifle, CR-56 AMAX, Kilo 141, and Grau 5.56. The majority of these guns are coming via the Season 3 Battle Pass but the Kilo 141 is coming in free as players log in to the game while it’s shutting down for a 24-hour server maintenance window on April 2 as it readies to release. The Grau 5.56 will be produced as a conversion kit for the Swat 5.56.
