EA Unveils First Official Look at New Battlefield Gameplay along with Battlefield Labs Initiative

Electronic Arts has revealed the first Official look at the new Battlefield game that’s currently in development along with it’s accompanying community based playtesting initiative known as Battlefield Labs.

And even though only a few seconds of pre-Alpha gameplay footage was shown, it did give us a glimpse of the next Battlefield which is looking spectacular in all the right ways for example the series’ hallmark real-time destruction feature is far more realistic than it’s ever been along with the overall visual richness and the tense military action which has been dialed up even more than what we’ve ever seen from the long running franchise.

In the video, EA has also announced Battlefield Studios, which is the umbrella branding for the total four studios concurrently working on the new Battlefield title, including the series’ original Sweden-based developer DICE, Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons developer Motive, U.S. studio Ripple Effect, and UK–based Criterion Games from Need for Speed fame who has recently joined development for the next Battlefield.

Among all the four Studios, DICE is currently building the multiplayer part of the game, Motive is crafting the game’s single-player missions and some of the maps for it’s multiplayer mode, Ripple Effect is working to make the game far more accessible for new players to the franchise and Criterion is involved with the single-player campaign.

Also as already announced, the next Battlefield will also see the return of it’s traditional single-player campaign mode that was completely absent in Battlefield 2042. And with two different developers involved with the campaign of the next Battlefield, it’s certainly shaping up to be the most ambitious and memorable campaign in the entire franchise.

“Even in pre-alpha, we are proud of where the game is at,” EA said. “We tirelessly playtest, but your feedback will supercharge our development as we strive to hit that perfect note between form, function, and feel.”

“This is an unprecedented moment for Battlefield. We will start by testing the pillars of play, like core combat and destruction. Then transition to balance and feedback for our weapons, vehicles and gadgets, ultimately leading to where all these pieces come together in our maps, modes, and squad play.

“And yes, we will be testing Conquest and Breakthrough, the heart and soul of our all-out warfare experience, but BF Labs will also be a place to explore new ideas and fine-tune and improve Battlefield pillars like our class system (Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon) to create deeper more strategic play.”

While the initial invitations are currently limited for servers mostly located in Europe and North America, in later stages EA will extend support for more territories Worldwide which will allow tens of thousands more playtesters to get involved in Battlefield Labs.

Stay tuned for more news updates on the next Battlefield game.
