SNK adds rollback netcode to King of Fighters 13 for a price

SNK is a beloved company, always bringing the best fighting games to the table. SNK adds rollback netcode to the beloved and highly praised King of Fighters 13. All is good but, there’s a huge catch that rightfully infuriates many users. We at Infinite Start will cover this situation that aggravates fans of the game.

Pay the price or rollback

SNK announces the release of The King of Fighters 13 Global Match, an update to the original game that brings rollback netcode. This is the first time the company does something like this for a game that is already released on PC. Many other developers on the genre do free updates to their older games on Steam, adding such compatibility as a way to revitalize a previous entry.

However, SNK decided to tread a greedy path to nickel away $7 out of people who already owned the original release of King of Fighters 13. This made fans of the game rightfully angry, causing them to review bomb an otherwise good title. Its cool to see that SNK adds rollback netcode to its older games, but this is not the way to do it.

When all developers add a crucial feature like that, it is because they want players to be able to experience the game as it was meant to be. Players already paid for said experience before, so its disingenuous to charge them so much money for something so essential. It’s surprisingly unprofessional of SNK to have done something like this.

What now?

One can hope that perhaps SNK adds rollback netcode for free, if enough bad reputation piles up. However, in the games industry, its sometimes impossible to convince these huge companies to back down. SNK used to be a company that cared for its fans, always providing amazing options for cheap prices compared to their competitors. Maybe it is time for fans to help them wake up from their greed, so SNK adds rollback netcode to King of Fighters 13 for free.
