Riot Games made a huge mistake on the new LoL battle pass

League of Legends, also known as LoL, is one of the most popular MOBA titles that has been with us for years. Riot Games is, however, a company known by its blunders too. After rolling out some new updates, Riot Games made a huge mistake with some rewards. This error caused players to earn less Blue Essence than expected, making them question if the current Noxus event was worth playing. We at Infinite Start will document such blunder.

On an attempt to balance rewards to keep players engaged with the Noxus event, Riot Games went very far with such terrible earnings. Blue Essence is a very important material in LoL that allows the player to create champions in the game. Each time you play matches or disenchant fragments of champions you don’t want, you also earn this valuable resource.

An important thing Riot tends to do to bump up the player count during crucial time is events tied to a battle pass. These events tend to be a huge source of the aforementioned material, being perfect for new players to jump in and play some matches. However, during the most recent Noxus event, rewards were abysmal compared to other events in the game. It seems that Riot decided to remove some boosts from the First Win of the day.

After lots of backlash from the playerbase, Riot Games opted to rework such unfair numbers, that caused players to grind for hours. This has not been the only time Riot Games committed such issues, there have been worse cases of champions being bugged at launch. Along with plenty of other bugs and unbalanced mechanics being added to the mix.

Grinding in LoL has to be one of the most tedious exercises in gaming, many players awaiting for events like this to lessen the grind. So it is expected that they would be mad at the current progression they had to deal with. Perhaps it would be better if players could enjoy the game casually with their friends. But it does not seem that complies with Riot’s chaotic design philosophy.
