Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Teased With Major Quality-of-Life Updates

As Destiny 2 prepares to launch Episode Heresy in February, Bungie has unveiled key quality-of-life updates designed to address community feedback and refine the player experience. Following the mixed reception of Episode Revenant, these updates signal Bungie’s intent to deliver a more polished and engaging chapter for the franchise.

Iron Banner Returns to One-Week Format

One of the most notable changes coming in Episode Heresy is the return of Iron Banner to a one-week schedule. Responding to fan feedback, Bungie confirmed the shift via their Destiny 2 Team Twitter account. This adjustment follows complaints about the two-week format introduced with The Final Shape, which many felt was unnecessary and made the mode feel less special. While some players appreciated the longer availability for earning triumphs and reputation, the overall response to the one-week change has been positive.

Increased Resource Caps

In their first blog post of 2025, Bungie announced significant resource cap increases to improve inventory management:

  • Strange Coins: Cap raised from 99 to 199, allowing players to carry more of the currency used with Xur.
  • Osirian Ciphers and Nightfall Ciphers: Caps increased from 10 to 30, enabling more flexibility for those engaging in Trials of Osiris and Nightfall activities.

These changes aim to reduce friction in resource management, giving players greater freedom to focus on gameplay.

Hopes for Episode Heresy

Episode Revenant was divisive, with players citing content shortages, bugs, and a notable dip in player engagement following The Final Shape. As a result, fans are eager to see if Bungie can regain momentum with Episode Heresy. Bungie has teased additional updates for Trials of Osiris and hinted at further changes to enhance the overall experience.

With the release of Episode Heresy just weeks away, expectations are high for Bungie to deliver a stronger narrative and more refined mechanics. Stay tuned for more updates as Bungie shares additional details in the coming weeks.
