All Possible Futures detailed The Plucky Squire version 1.15.1, which adds a Streamline mode and more.
As the name suggests, Streamline mode decreases the amount of dialogue, and gameplay guidance. Given this was one of the most common complaints about The Plucky Squire, it’s great to see said concerns addressed without punishing those who prefer the additional assistance.
Streamlined Mode
Streamlined mode is intended for more experienced players who want less guidance and more action. For example! A door unlocks – do you really need the game to stop and the camera to pan over and look at it opening? Maybe not! In Streamlined Mode, it doesn’t! This is one of the many examples of reduced guidance.
We’ve cut some fat from the dialogue in Streamlined Mode – a line here, a line there… It’s not like we’ve hacked away entire scenes, just trimmed bits for a more…streamlined…experience.
We’ve also added speech bubble portraits to keep track of who’s speaking while you’re speeding through.
While this is an exciting addition, the official X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed it’s only for Steam at the moment. A console version is in the works, though no release date was given.
Version 1.15.1 also increases the number of autosaves, and adds the ability to restart the current chapter. These changes are aimed to improve the overall experience in the event players get stuck. Language options were also added.
Finally, anyone interested in The Plucky Squire can get it for $22.49 (MSRP $29.99). This is a savings of 25 percent, which will run “throughout the holiday.” It’s also still available for free to PlayStation Plus Extra and higher subscribers.
