Following an overwhelming number of criticism from Destiny 2 players about the new Exotic class item drop rate; Bungie commented on what is going on, and what players can expect from the future.
According to Bungie, Tier 4 Overthrow chests do not contribute to the drop rate increase, nor do they currently give Exotic class items. Unfortunately, the comment does not provide any insight into how much of an impact does this change provide.
If every chest offers the same rate for the exotic, and increase for the exotic it probably won’t make a substantial difference. However, if it offers a better chance, or rate it could vastly improve the experience.
No timeline was given for this fix besides it’s in the works, and aiming for a “near-term hotfix.”
The same post also commented on the ongoing concerns about farming for a specific perk arrangement. Currently players have a 1 in 64 chance of getting any perk arrangement, leading to rather substantial grinds.
Bungie confirmed they’re looking into a way to target a specific perk, but won’t share more details until plans solidify.
Even if the change is similar to attunement in Onslaught, which gives a 60 percent chance of a desired weapon, for a single perk it will be a substantial improvement in terms of grinding.
