Warner Bros. Games announced they officially acquired MultiVersus developer, Player First Games.
This was confirmed in a press release earlier today, which also mentioned Tony Huynh and Chris White will retain leadership of Player First Games. Huynh went on to add the following statement.
Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.
Warner Bros. Games President, David Haddad, followed up by adding the following comment.
We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.
The news is just in time for MultiVersus‘ second season, which starts tomorrow. Long time rumored character Beetlejuice, and fan favorite Samurai Jack were both confirmed to be part of it.
Fan response to this news is surprisingly mixed. Some players have fears this will negative impact MultiVersus sometime in the future, whereas other people see it as an indicator MultiVersus is considered successful.
Concerns about success stem have remained common follow MultiVersus‘ return. These range from elements being downgraded compared to the beta, to low numbers on Steam Charts. Despite this, hopefully the news is an indicator good things are going on behind the scenes, with the fighter continuing to grow overtime.
