Sony is rolling out a new feature that allows PS5 players to join Discord voice chat directly from their console. This update eliminates the need for players to use the Discord PC or mobile apps to connect.
To join a chat from the PS5, players simply need to select the Discord tab in Game Base in the console’s control center and choose the server or direct message group they want to join. The feature is part of the latest PS5 system update, which is available now. This update also includes new social and child account features, as well as improvements to Pulse audio accessories and the PlayStation Link USB adapter.
Players will receive a notification on their PlayStation 5 console when another Discord user calls them, allowing them to join the call immediately. Sony stated that the feature will roll out gradually over the coming weeks, starting with players in Japan and Asia, followed by Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally the Americas.
Next week, Sony will also introduce the ability for players to share their PlayStation Network profile on any messaging or social app. Players can generate a shareable link or QR code from the PS5 or the PlayStation App, which recipients can use to add the sender as a friend on PlayStation Network.
