Player First Games confirmed a number of exciting details about MultiVersus’ May 28 re-launch, including “welcome back” rewards, the first battle pass, and more.
At launch all players will have a special seven-day reward calendar to start things off right. One of the rewards is upcoming joke character Banana Guard, with the final reward being a special Lady Banana Guard variant.
Returning players who come back to MultiVersus before June 11 will receive the first battle pass for free. This includes Jason Voorhees as a level one reward, plus more “high-value” items like ringouts, character variants, taunts, and more. One notable mention is the inclusion of Gleamium, which is MultiVersus’ premium currency, with the first season being said to have enough for the next season pass. It’s not clear if this is exclusive to the first season, or will always be true, but it’s a fantastic addition regardless.
All returning players will also receive a special edition Snow Suit Finn costume. Unlike the season pass, this reward is not time sensitive.
Multiversus is also simplifying the currency system. For starters, Character and Battle Pass Tokens will no longer be offered. Anyone in possession will still have them, and be able to use them as they see fit.
Characters will be unlocked through a new resource called Fighter Currency. The same is true for traits, which will have its own Trait Currency. There will also be a special currency called Prestige that is unlocked by unlocking cosmetics for your favorite fighter. After a certain point enough Prestige will be collected to unlock the rarest cosmetics in MultiVersus. Returning players will also receive Prestige for all previously collected items.
