Following its successful Prince of Persia revival earlier this year, Ubisoft plans to launch another game in 2024. This new game, a Prince of Persia roguelike, comes from Evil Empire, known for their work on Dead Cells. Tom Henderson reports that the game, titled The Rogue Prince of Persia, will enter Steam’s early access in 2024. It marks Ubisoft’s first game on Steam since 2019. The company aims to develop the game with help from player feedback.
According to Henderson, The Rogue Prince of Persia will get free updates and evolve based on community input. The game, inspired by Franco-Belgian comics, has been under development for four years. Although there’s no official announcement date, Evil Empire will share the news at the Triple-i indie showcase next week.
Evil Empire recently announced it would stop working on Dead Cells to focus on new projects. Despite plans for Dead Cells updates until late 2024, the original developer, Motion Twin, decided to end support. This decision surprised many, including former lead designer Sébastien Benard, who criticized it sharply.
This announcement comes after Ubisoft revealed that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown would receive four free updates, including new story content and modes. Meanwhile, the long-awaited Sands of Time remake still lacks a launch date.
