CD Projekt RED held a Night City Wire stream for Cyberpunk 2077 to highlight multiple facets of the impending Phantom Liberty expansion. We have known for a while that the Idris Elba-led DLC would be accompanied by a notable overhaul and evolution of the FPS-RPG’s systems, but the exact timeline for that anticipated Update 2.0 has been a mystery. Or rather, it was a mystery until today’s stream.
CD Project RED wrapped up their online event by revealing that Update 2.0 will drop the week before Phantom Liberty, launching on September 21st. The all-encompassing update includes wide-sweeping revisions to skills and augmentations, a revamped police system, the introduction of true car combat, and more! If you have been dying to add a bit of Twisted Metal flair to Night City or if you’re someone who enjoys attempting to survive GTA‘s five star wanted system, you will certainly find plenty to love in Update 2.0.
Even though we’re still a week out from 2.0, CD Projekt RED has already enabled players to map out new skill paths with an official Build Planner. Start theory building and allocate those skill points in the desired nodes so that you can hit the ground running, regardless of if you are starting a fresh character or taking your pre-existing V straight into Phantom Liberty.
If you have (somehow) managed to avoid having Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty hit your radar, here’s the overview straight from the developer:
Phantom Liberty is a new spy-thriller adventure for Cyberpunk 2077. Return as cyber-enhanced mercenary V and embark on a high-stakes mission of espionage and intrigue to save the NUS President. In the dangerous district of Dogtown, you must forge alliances within a web of shattered loyalties and sinister political machinations. Do you have what it takes to survive?
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 will hit all platforms on September 21st with the Phantom Liberty expansion arriving on September 26th.
