It appears Sonic Frontiers is one of the most popular Sonic games of all time. This is because the game has sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide across all platforms.
This number was announced by Sega during a Rovio press conference reports Game Developer. A few months ago, the game sold 3 million copies.
Sonic Frontiers is now the best-selling 3D Sonic video game of all time. The game exceeds the sales of Sonic Heroes which sold 3.41 million copies when it was released 20 years ago.
It will be interesting to see if these numbers mean that Sega will be releasing a direct sequel for the game.
