Bungie Announces Plans to Upload Old Destiny Cutscenes; Requests Others Refrain from Uploading Them

This Week at Bungie addresses a number of concerns the community has with Lightfall, and the New Light experience.

Most of these were covered in yesterday’s post reflecting on Destiny 2: Lightfall player feedback, offering some insight into upcoming changes, or their thought process going into the initial system.

But the big surprise this week was Bungie confirming they will upload “almost every” cutscene in Destiny 2 to their YouTube channel. As of this post seasons 15 through 19 are currently available, along with The Witch Queen. Bungie hopes to get a couple videos up every few months which should help with complaints about the New Light experience.

In addition to uploading this content, Bungie has requested content creators not upload cutscenes going forward.

Can I share my recordings on YouTube too?

  • We ask that you leave the cutscenes up to us. We totally understand (and allow) clips to be used during your video creation for MOTW or other content creations needs, but full cutscenes will need to remain on our channel.
This Week at Bungie

While this isn’t the most ideal solution, it’s good to see Bungie address these ongoing concerns. At this point following the narrative is extremely difficult when a large portion of it is missing. Hopefully long term they will extend this to Destiny 1, though that might be difficult due to how the narrative is presented.
