Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier‘s service will come to an end on Jan. 11, 2023.
While few detail were given, Square Enix noted they weren’t able to deliver the experience we were hoping for and ultimately decided to end service.
As for the future, events will continue to be updated until the service ends. Along with that, Shinra credits will no longer be available for purchase, though anyone with Shinra credits may use them until the service ends. On Nov. 1, support for non-English languages will end, which they note will display in English for everyone after that point.
Unfortunately, this is the second service Square Enix has closed down this year due to a lack of demand. Babylon’s Fall‘s end was announced a few weeks ago, which had numbers so low Steam trackers had a single digit average.
