Sony announced an all new loyalty program called PlayStation Stars, which is free to join and launches later this year.
While there are few details at the moment, PlayStation Stars is about celebrating players by offering easy and hard tasks for a variety of rewards. Some examples include a monthly check-in, which simply asks players to load up any game during the month to receive. Some other include winning tournaments, earning specific trophies and even being the first to platinum a major title in your local time zone.
Completing these and other tasks will earn loyalty points, as well as purchases, which PlayStation Plus subscribers will earn “automatically,” with the following benefits:
Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds and select PlayStation Store products.
Also, as part of PlayStation Stars, we are unveiling a new type of reward called “digital collectibles.” Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.
