ELEX II – What Are Attribute Points (AP) and Learning Points (LP)?

ELEX II is an expansive RPG rife with various systems and mechanics that the player must uncover and harness to bring Jax up to par with the alien opposition awaiting him. As with most RPGs, power comes from leveling up, which in turn opens up access to a wider range of gear and abilities. In ELEX II, Attribute Points (AP) and Learning Points (LP) are both awarded with each level, giving players multiple ways to invest in their version of Jax.

What exactly are AP and LP used for, you may find yourself wondering. We have those details for you right here. So read on and better prepare yourself for the adventure across Magalan’s surface in this sequel brimming with Piranha Bytes‘ RPG goodness.

What Are Attribute Points (AP) and Learning Points (LP)?

Attribute Points (AP) are the RPG-standard points given with each level and used to increase one of five player attributes: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Cunning. Different weapons and armor carry their own prerequisites tied to these attributes. Those wanting to build into a two-handed warrior will focus primarily on Strength and Constitution, whereas ranged combatants will shift toward Dexterity.

Learning Points (LP) are one of ELEX II‘s more engaging systems. While Learning Points are awarded upon leveling up, they cannot be spent from the character menu like Attribute Points. Instead, Jax must seek out the appropriate trainer or workbench to learn the desired skill. Each skill has its own prerequisites like gear, meaning having a spare Learning Point won’t be enough on its own to gain the desired ability. Some skills require joining a specific faction, acquiring certain resources, or allocating Attribute Points properly.

That’s all you need to know about AP and LP to get Jax started and on the desired playstyle path. Venture forth into Magalan more knowledgeable and better prepared.

ELEX II is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
