How to defeat the Hydra in Shin Megami Tensei V

Hydra is the first boss that you encounter in Shin Megami Tensei V. While the Hydra may look like a pushover, the boss packs a punch.

Defeating the Hydra takes a lot of preparation, especially if you are playing on Hard Mode. Preparation includes grinding levels and of course a set of demons that can deal massive damage to Hydra.

Need help? Well, we’re here to guide you on how to defeat the Hydra in Shin Megami Tensei V:

Defeating the Hydra

Hydra is a level 15 boss that is resistant to fire attacks but weak to ice-type attacks. Make sure that you have a team of demons that can deal Bufu spells, if not better. Be wary of the Fire Breath +3 attack that can deal heavy damage to your party. If Hydra uses Magatsuhi Skill, use a Fire dampener item to mitigate it.

The status effect works on Hydra as well. Spells like Charm or Paralysis will give your party high survivability. If the set of your demons isn’t at level 15 at least, grind for levels near the Tokyo Tower. Don’t go attack the boss if you are under level 10 as it can wipe your party.

The demon that works well with the boss is the Icecaller Song spell of the Siren. You can recruit Siren near the river at the bottom southern part of the area.
