The Beginners Guide to NieR Reincarnation

Right now NieR Reincanation is extremely hot and it makes sense. The popular console series now has a mobile game that is very favorable for newcomers. Not only do we have the NieR Automata campaign, there is another campaign, additional premium resources and events to get a massive head start. However, with so much going on and people having questions, we wanted to make a beginners guide to NieR Reincarnation to make the experience as good as it could be.

Here is our Beginners Guide to NieR Reincarnation:

Reroll until you’re happy

Like most mobile games, rerolling is extremely important to get a good head start. This guide assumes you know how to do that, but if you don’t, you can find that information here.

Right now the most desirable units are A2 and 2B from NieR Automata. Both of them are considered S rank units for PVE and the upcoming PVP mode. The final character to shoot for is going to be 2P, Akeha or Fio. Essentially, your goal is going to be to pull on the NieR Automata Crossover Summon Vol. 1 banner for those two units and then focus on the NieR Automata Crossover Summon Vol. 2 banner.

The best way to maximize your time is to start the game and then progress to chapter two. Once there, tap Mama (the ghost) 100 times and you should have enough gems for three 10 rolls. If you don’t get one, or ideally both, units, reroll.

Since there is currently enough gems in the game to get the pity, it’s currently suggested to settle for two units at four stars, with at least one being a crossover character.

Please note: If you do get 9S and get either A2 or 2B, getting the third one rewards 4,500 gems.

Progress in the story for better unlocks

Surprisingly, NieR Reincarnation becomes more user friendly as players progress. For example, the following upgrades can be unlocked by beating specific story stages.

Chapter nine, the current end of the story, will award more tickets and also grants access to free daily summons (you get five things), daily missions and random bonus items in the main room. As for chapter six on hard, this allows auto play to use character and partner skills, making it even easier to grind/play without paying attention.

Maximize Coins from the Event

Right now the best thing to farm in NieR Reincarnation are the event stages. They offer coins that can be used for a wide variety of things, almost all of which will greatly help players progress, but the trick isn’t to just do these stages, it’s to build a team around these stages.

The ideal team is 9S, 2B and A2. If you lack one, both or all of these units, the three star version can be purchased in the shop for 200 coins. The three star version will offer a single coin, with the four star versions giving two.

From there, the best purchases from the shop are the characters, even if you have the four star version, followed by weapons and then cash. The reason for the characters is each one comes with their weapon for half the price, with the intent being players take those weapons and equip them on your aforementioned NieR Automata team. This, along with their existing weapons, should give each character three to four additional coins. Upgrading the weapon with purchased weapons also vastly increases coin production.

By upgrading those weapons, and the log in reward weapon, players can vastly increase the number of coins obtained. The amount varies based off how many event weapons you obtain, meaning more from pulls gives more coins, but even with marginal effort, decent luck and at least one incomplete weapon I gain an additional 37 coins a run.

Long term these investments pay off handsomely, with far more rewards for significantly less time and effort. Players suggest doing the normal quest after you gain 13 or more bonus coins, though you can do later missions for better post stage rewards. The former gives better overall medal gain, whereas the latter has better potential for drops.

Finishing a Stage is More Important than Getting Every Reward

Perfectionists are going to want to maximize their time by chasing after every reward. This makes sense if you can manipulate stages just enough to ensure you only need to do them once but it is always more important to win than having the right elemental weapon or ensuring everyone is alive.

Long term these stages will be played again and again for rewards, that it’s honestly cheaper to refresh the shop and buy energy than it is to worry about the best uses for said energy.

Remember Subquests

Story is important for the unlocks but very long term it’s key to focus on subquests and activities. These typically offer resources and sought after items that make progressing easier.
