As the adventure in Neva Tulira starts to wind down, there is really only one enemy remaining, Rhallus. Cris Tales makes it pretty obvious Rhallus, and Buki, will fight you at some point, with her serving as the arc boss. While she isn’t the most fearsome boss in Cris Tales, she, like Mayor Enzo, has some details that players need to be aware of, so let’s get into it.
Before fighting Rhallus, you’re warned that there is no going back once this fight starts. With four trophy/achievements related to side quests, it’s extremely important to do these before going to far. Please note, I am not sure if it’s actually possible to do some of these quests at this point. You might actually have to revert your save prior to this point to complete them due to NPCs changing locations.
While Unlucky in Love and Bitter Memories are relatively straightforward missions triggering them can be a bit iffy. Both require items found in the Museum to start, Old Memories is a diary hidden behind a pillar in the first area and Unlucky in Love uses a mirror you get from, if I recall correctly, a bookshelf in the same area or the last room. Finishing both will give you Unlucky at Heart and Old Memories respectively.
One, somewhat easy, to mission is Setting the Bases, which is obtained by speaking to Oropen at the university. He will ask you to grab salt samples from the mine. The first one is easy to miss, it’s by the pillar that is holding a pipe, with the second being just past the other pillar. If that is confusing, just find the vender and it’s to the top right of them. Returning to him will give you, to absolutely no surprise, the trophy/achievement Setting the Bases.
As for The Grand Carnival, the difficulty of this quest hinges on how closely you’re paying attention to Cris Tales and/or read the quest. The quest requires three ribbons. One from Brandon, the gentleman to the bottom right, Elizabeth the equipment shop worker (you have to go sell and then talk to get it) and the two students to the left of the university. Once you get all three, a cutscene will play and At the Peak of Celebration will unlock. The quest reward is a Fiery Keychain, which should unlock the trophy/achievement Paulina Would be Proud (yes, there are only four).
With all these trophies you’re ready to fight Rhallus, but keep in mind there are post fight trophy/achievements you can miss.
At this point, as long as you have Iron Gauntlets, some kind of boots, and something that gives free health (Sapphire Ring/Zaphyr Necklace), you should be good. I also suggest leaving JKR721 on the sidelines, though using him is not going to cause any issues.
While there are some benefits to fighting Rhallus in her bird form, I suggest just battling her in the present. She doesn’t have any weak points, though she isn’t immune to anything either.
The real advantage to fighting Rhallus in her human form is abusing damage over time skills. It’s possible to use Cristopher’s Fireblast to burn her, dealing damage each turn, with Willhelm’s poison achieving the same result. This will essentially nullify her healing, making it a pretty straightforward battle. She really doesn’t have many tricks, so just keep using the same attacks and you should be fine.
After beating Rhallus, Crisbell will be given a choice on how to spend the money. Before you start debating what the right call it, give funds to both.
While giving funds to one of them will unlock that trophy/achievement, giving funds to both will instantly unlock Learn from the Past and Academic. There is no reason to even consider another option.
