If you had any prior concerns regarding how the upcoming and hotly anticipated 007 First Light will run on the consoles, you’ll be glad to know that IO Interactive has confirmed that it’s going to run extremely smoothly on the PS5 Pro as well as on the base PS5. The developer has just showcased a gameplay video running on the PS5 Pro at a silky smooth 60 FPS, while also stating that 007 First Light will hit 60 FPS on the base PS5 when running on the Performance mode and will run at a respectable 30 FPS on the Quality mode which offers much higher visual fidelity.
The ensuing gameplay video shows plenty of intense shootouts befitting for a James Bond title, while also demonstrating some of the auxiliary mechanics like a nifty slow-mo which can really make a difference in life-or-death situations. There’s also the melee combat that feels plenty satisfying although a bit out of place in the video, with so many people shooting at the player.
However, the visuals and the framerate feel rock solid, and just as you’d expect in the most powerful console that you can get your hands on right now. The technically demanding level (with all the action going on) also demonstrated that the rest of 007 First Light will run just like a breeze on the PS5 Pro, without any hitch in performance.
And although the devs haven’t said anything about the Xbox Series X|S systems, the game will likely look and run pretty similar to the base PS5, except for the version on the Series S console which may receive some compromises cause of it’s less powerful hardware.
If you’re on the PC, check out the newly updated and final system requirements for the upcoming title, ranging all the way from Minimum to Ultra.
007 First Light boasts an impressive, star studded cast of Dexter: Original Sin’s Patrick Gibson as the new James Bond, Fear the Walking Dead’s Lennie James as Bond’s mentor John Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny and Noémie Nakai as Miss Roth.
007: First Light will launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on May 27.
