Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Remaster Won’t Touch PS5 on Launch

Those who know the digital block have not greeted news that the “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Remaster” won’t be touching PS5 on launch with a mix of enthusiasm and, for Sony PS5 players, puzzlement. Released on May 22, 2025, by Sega, this updated version, referred to as “Master Crafted Edition,” offers a series of changes that aim to revive the original game.

Among its most significant improvements are support for 4K resolution for gorgeous graphics, extremely detailed character models that set the grimdark universe ablaze in glorious detail, smoother user interface components, and an extremely overhauled control system to make the game modern. In addition, the remaster will feature all downloadable content released beforehand in an exhaustive form, providing the finest package deal for new and veteran players alike.

The release date for this eagerly awaited game is June 10, with a confirmed launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC, released through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Further generating anticipation among Xbox players, the “Master Crafted Edition” will also launch day-one on Xbox Game Pass, greatly increasing its visibility.

But the question on everyone’s mind is why the PS5 version was not included at launch, despite a clear lack of an explanation. Industry speculation includes a number of possibilities, the most likely being that extra development time is needed in order to bring the PS5 port up to the expected standards of a next-generation release.

Another generally accepted theory is that Sega is biding their time in announcing PlayStation 5, possibly holding off for a reportedly rumored State of Play event reportedly scheduled to occur in June 2025. A release that coincides with traditional industry practice on significant console platform announcements would be reasonable here. Before long, launch date is nigh, and PlayStation 5 gamers anticipate further information, the Emperor’s best hopefully being included on Sony’s next-generation console some time in the future.
