Take-Two CEO Comments on GTA 6 Delay

One of biggest gaming news of the year is definitely the recent delay of Rockstar Games’ upcoming monolith Grand Theft Auto 6 or GTA 6, which has now been officially confirmed to release in May 2026. And recently on Take-Two’s investor relations website, CEO Strauss Zelnick has also commented on the delay, and stated that they completely support Rockstar’s goal to make GTA 6 as polished and refined as gamers expect it to be when it actually releases.

“We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to bea groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations,” Zelnick stated. “While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders.”

GTA 6GTA 6

Of course, given the relatively low amount of promotional materials for GTA 6 that has been out so far, with it’s highly anticipated second trailer yet to be released, the delay wasn’t really that much of a surprise. Also, these delays could actually be part of the game’s marketing appeal to build up more anticipation from the players by drip-feeding contents related to the game between long intervals of time, which can raise hype for a title especially if it’s as big as something like GTA 6. But at least we now have a more concrete release window for the game, which was a bit vague up until the announcement of the delay.

And maybe we’ll finally see the second trailer of GTA 6 launching in fall this year, which would hype up the game’s release even more while giving players more reasons to be excited about Grand Theft Auto 6 when it finally launches next year.
