GTA 5 has Sold over 5 Million Copies in the past 3 Months

In it’s quarterly investor presentation, Rockstar parent company Take Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA 5, which is already the third highest selling videogame of all time, has sold over 5 million more units in the past 3 months. Surely an effect of the recent delay and even the monumental Trailer 2 for GTA 6, a lot more new players have gravitated to GTA 5 for the time being.

The Open World title has now sold approximately 215 million copies while at the time of February, that number was around 210 million which was still massive in every possible way. This clearly means the 12 year-old game has sold 5 million more units in the last three months, clearly a testament to the fact that great gameplay can surely stand the test of time.

To put the gigantic sales numbers in perspective, 2025’s best-selling game so far, Monster Hunter Wilds have only managed to pass 10 million sales unit since it came out back in February. Although it needs to be understood that GTA 5 is only the third highest selling videogame of all time, second to Tetris (520 million) and Minecraft (300 million) and still has a long way to go in order to dethrone both.

GTA 5 GTA 5

Also, the recent Enhanced Edition of GTA 5 has definitely made a contribution to the overall sales numbers of the game with it’s massive visual overhaul which certainly makes visiting and re-visiting Los Santos all the more worthwhile in 2025. And as the NaturalVision Enhanced Mod for GTA 5 Enhanced has also been just released, it’s safe to say that the Open World title will continue to see even more players in the coming months, till GTA 6 finally arrives in next year.

And while the wait for GTA 6 is not particularly easy with the game still around a year away from release, Rockstar has provided quite a bit of an appetizer with it’s massively anticipated second trailer, a huge number of screenshots along with official descriptions for all 6 key locations of the world plus the main characters in the game’s narrative.
