DOOM The Dark Ages is getting some particularly “broken on release” reputation going on. For PC games in this day and age, it seems that this is expected, however, this never really happened as much as it does now compared to the past. If prices for games get more expensive, then quality should be outstanding, no tricks, no slop. We are living in the shrinkflation era, you pay for way more than what you get, and you will be happy with that. As the medium keeps getting more sloppier with each triple A release, indie games rise to the front providing better deals and quality to people. We at Infinite Start will cover this disaster.
Many Youtubers and tech people are starting to report on the fact that the game is broken after the current update that happened. Most normal people would actually agree with an update when prompted, after all it is supposed to fix things, not break them. This wasn’t the case however, and the game got as toasted as current Nvidia GPUs, this is a big mistake from id Software that they might surely fix.
Between this and the lack of Steam Deck support, it truly saddens many that this game could have performed better. We hope there is some sort of quick update to address all issues that plague the game, crashing was a thing before, but now it seems like it has become part of the gameplay. DOOM The Dark Ages is a game that deserved better, but it came out in a period where the industry is declining in quality severely.
The moral of the story is to stop buying games on release date, they always come broken and you paid full price for them when you could have yanked them on a discount.
