AI assets allegedly found in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

AI assets are pretty shameful to have in a game. It seems that Clair Obscur Expedition 33 was caught red handed by players who discovered some weird textures in the game. PC players are mad at the prospects that what is considered one of the best titles in 2025 decided to use “placeholder” (according to Sandfall Interactive) Gen “AI” slop. Now, you really can’t see this anymore, since it has been updated with proper textures that make sense in the game. It seems that we are finally unmasking the truth behind Clair Obscur as a game, and the truth is grim.

AI assets tarnish your reputation

Whether you used them for a placeholder or not it is important to respect ethics in a world where injustice seems to prevail. If ethics are not respected, the gaming medium turns into slop. This is a true fact that we have seen repeated with microtransactions, gacha game garbage, and other slop that was brought to use by corporate minded people without a shred of humanity. This is not to say that Sandfall Interactive didn’t put effort into the creation of the game, but doing things like this casts doubt on their skills.

After the reveal of this game being funded by millionaires, people have lost passion for the game that once was thought as this underdog that competed in an unfair market. AI assets being thrown into the mix is really a recipe for more controversy, a thing you need to avoid if you want to keep a good profile online. However, the game already sold more than 2 million copies, and if the praises of people aren’t made out of mass hysteria or lack of good options, then they are well deserved.

We can hope that the people at Sandfall Interactive can clarify on what happened behind the scenes. Being honest about it and fixing it is a good step to garner good PR that can actually boost your image, if they don’t come forward with what happened, this can prove to be problematic in the future.
