Ragnarok Online is one of the most popular MMOs, especially in Korea. For years, they have been scamming their players by tricking them with pull ratios. They have constantly lied about pull rate to rake in more cash, and they have done this countless of times. People have taken notice of this, and now, it seems like a big player has entered the legal chat. The Korean government is currently fining the company behind Ragnarok Online for scamming their customers. The company has agreed to refund a part of the money stolen, which is insane. They have only suffered some minor set back, just like less than a million dollars of fine.
The sad reality is that this is meaningless. The only real way to fight this sort of scams, is to not fall for them, to stop playing obvious scam games. The government is actually in favor of this sort of things, despite taking action. The fine amount should have been enough so show that the corporations are the thing that run Korea. Korea is a true dystopia, and many of us are heading towards a similar path to them.
Japan also suffers from this sort of thing too, it has been normalized that gambling should be done by everyone. After all, the only reason to exist is to work for companies and die for the companies that exploit you. Nothing you are getting is real, you don’t even own it, all of this sham items are virtual and they can get deleted at any time, any day. Gamers have to take action against these sort of scam games.
Nobody enjoys playing them, and if you think you do, you are being manipulated to believe you enjoy them. When the team is mostly comprised of behavioral psychologists, you are just a guinea pig to test tactics on, not a real gamer. Ragnarok Online is one of the oldest scams that destroyed the industry.
