Overwatch 2 Reveals Abundance of Content in Season 16

Blizzard Entertainment revealed a significant update to Overwatch 2 when Season 16 went live on April 22. The new season will bring a massive amount of content, such as a new game mode, a new hero, cosmetic updates, and a significant change to the competitive scene.

One of the main attractions of Season 16 is the fresh “Stadium” game mode that will be debuting on the 22nd. It will have a best-of-seven skirmish mode, where players will gain “Stadium Cash” per game. That will be spent by users to buy items and enhance hero skills between games, giving the games themselves a strategic choice factor.

Also joining the heroes’ roster on Season 16 will be Freja, another new damage hero. With Freja added into the game, players can eagerly anticipate the “Heart of Hope Juno” Mythic skin, or basically an aesthetically attractive addition to the cosmetic list of the game.

Competitive players will see a root change when the Hero Bans feature is activated. This much-hyped feature will enable players to vote for three heroes to ban prior to every game, and the most voted hero will become unselectable. This feature is expected to bring additional strategic depth to competitive play and promote team composition variety.

Aside from the game updates, Season 16 will also be having a crossover with the original Gundam Wing anime series. The crossover will include a Mercy skin based on the mecha franchise and will be advantageous to fans of both the Overwatch 2 and original anime franchise.

Aside from these main features, the players will also get to enjoy a fresh Battle Pass along with a new cosmetic reward. There will be “Dokiwatch” magical girl skins on other heroes including the Mythic Heart of Hope Juno skin and a Mythic Merciful Magitech skin for Mercy.

Overwatch 2 Season 16 seems to be a massive improvement, with an immense amount of new things and changes that will interest casual and competitive players alike. The addition of the Stadium mode, the introduction of Freja, Hero Bans, and the Gundam Wing crossover are some of the highlights of a season that was very big on big additions.
