Old AMD GPUs can access impressive raytracing in 2025

Old AMD GPU hardware has received a massive upgrade in 2025. Thanks to the effort of open source enthusiasts, now it is possible to play prohibitive games such as the current Indiana Jones from an RX580. Some games have forced raytracing upon users who are unable to spend tons of money in hardware upgrades. Thanks to AMD’s ecosystem being open source in some parts, people have been hacking away at the current available code to upgrade older hardware. People get increasingly tired to see games being unoptimized, and are unfortunately working for free for these companies. We at Infinite Start will discuss these great changes.

Old AMD GPUs are still useful

If you were planning on doing an “upgrade”, then there’s no need for them anymore. Your old AMD GPU is probably ready to deal with the current games if they force certain features. You might not be able to play them at the maximum resolution or anything fancy, but even that can change with some tinkering. Companies are hellbent in providing broken things to players, yet instead of protesting, people are just fixing the mistakes of companies for free.

It is crucial for people to stand up against these practices, optimized software should be a law, in fact, it was about to be a law. Thankfully, we can just obtain these games for free without giving anything to the companies that expect us to work for them for free. Back in the day, games used to be complete, and you could own them. There was rarely any game that was broken on release, and if there was, you could trade in your defective copy for an updated version that fixed something minor.

We have devolved when it comes to quality, and we are seeing our industry get bleeding while doing nothing about it. We must stand firm and reject broken games, and if we fix them, force companies to compensate us.
