Oblivion Remastered is seriously broken on Steam Deck 2025

Oblivion Remastered is truly a broken mess, but is it really that surprising? Even the original was quite broken back then, but making games was quite hard back then too. PC gamers on Linux are disappointed with how terrible the Oblivion Remaster works on the Steam Deck. People paid a ton of money to get their hands on the powerful portable, yet, publishers think things should go obsolete in a year. It is truly ridiculous that the Steam Deck, a machine that is there to set a standard, isn’t being taken into account. We at Infinite Start will cover any possible fix for this.

Just play the original Oblivion

It is very easy, the best way to fix this is just not buying the remaster. The original version is in most cases the superior one for every game. Not to mention that the Steam Deck can easily run the original Oblivion without any sort of issues. Back in the day, optimization was a must, but it seems like its slowly becoming a lost art. There’s a lot of cool things from the industry that has been lost to industrialized slop, and one of those things was making your own engines.

Nowadays, everything is a bloated buggy mess that runs on either, Unity or the latest UE version to stay trendy. Game development courses also are forced to carry both of these in their curriculum. The problem comes from the roots, and the roots are the industry trends themselves. When everything turns into chasing trends, then slop becomes inevitable, people want actual quality, originality, and human passion behind things.

Those who don’t have fun doing things, shouldn’t be doing them in the first place. If something comes from the hand of someone who has no passion in their craft, then of course it will feel soulless.
