Marvel Rivals Teases Two New Characters

Seasoned players and Marvel fans may have two more characters to anticipate soon in NetEase’s upcoming team-based superhero battler, Marvel Rivals. As per a recent report, keen-eyed players have spotted possible teasers for Jean Grey and Elixir being added to the game’s third season.

The rumor is based on what looks to be a leaked event page in the game. The page, which has been in circulation within the player community, contains character names and codenames for in-game events. The names Jean Grey and Elixir were prominently featured in this context, with most expecting that they will be the next inclusions in the expanding list of playable heroes and villains.

Jean Grey, a founding member of the X-Men, is Marvel’s most powerful mutant, famous for her telekinetic and telepathic abilities, and for her legendary manifestations as the Phoenix. Her addition would surely thrill a high percentage of the Marvel universe fanbase. Elixir, though less favored among fans, is a mutant possessing incredibly powerful biokinetic abilities, able to heal or annihilate organic tissue. His singular ability set might possibly bring some exciting strategic options to team compositions in Marvel Rivals.

That said, it’s good to keep in mind that this is still rumored information. There has been no word from NetEase on the inclusion of these heroes. Former rumors had indicated that Captain Marvel would get included in the cast of characters along with Jean Grey in Season 3, testifying to the fleeting nature of such rumors.

Marvel Rivals has added five new characters to its deck since its initial two seasons, raising the number of original cast members to 38. Season 1 added Fantastic Four members, and Season 2 added other Duelist and Vanguard-type heroes, such as Emma Frost. Adding a strong telepath such as Jean Grey and a hero with skilled support abilities such as Elixir would add even more to the game’s diversity of strategy. As ever, gamers have to wait for the game developers’ official announcement regarding any new characters being introduced.
