Lunar Remastered Collection is coming soon in 12 days. That would be in April 18th so its less than 2 weeks left. PC players will be able to enjoy the beloved JRPG duology that charmed many fans from the 90s, for the first time in a new system. The originals released on the PS1 and on Sega systems, and they are truly some hidden gems. Both versions have some differences, but this collection will be based upon the PS1 release. For those people that for some weird reason hate listening to Japanese, there will be a new English dub done for it. We at Infinite Start will cover this comeback.
The new voice acting in English sounds decent, but that’s only from what we gather from the trailer, which might just be the best acting bits. For all we know, the entire reputation of some games have been ruined by terrible voice acting in the 90s era. There was so many issues with direction in English that it honestly felt as if doing them wrong was intentional to cripple Japanese media.
Usually, English voice actors by themselves are pretty decent, but directors truly suck at their jobs. Putting people in the wrong roles, not understanding the script, and giving wrong orders to the poor voice actors who have to deal with it. Lunar seems to have suffered from some of this.
We can hope that this time, there’s enough effort put into it by the directors, but it is also possible to just switch to Japanese. Enjoying media in its native language is the best way to understand the art behind it, as purist as this statement might sound. Sometimes, things do not translate well due to cultural barriers and it takes a lot of effort to do a proper translation. Lunar was, regardless, a memorable experience for many 90s gamers.
